GLC and GLAS announce a new educational program for children: Night Hikes and Star-Gazing! Meet staff at the Helen Rohner Children’s Fishing Park barn to start your guided night-hike to your telescope. If weather permits, children will get a chance to observe the night sky and learn about stars, planets, and constellations from professional astronomers. The dates are as follows: please click the link in each date to register for that event. October 21, November 4, November 18, and December 9. Each takes place on a Thursday starting at 6:30pm.

Jul 2 | Fri –Family Day At Helen Rohner Children’s Fishing Park – “Monarchs Are Marvelous”, featuring the Butterfly Man and hundreds of monarchs. “Small Nature” photo contest announced.

Jul 17 | Sat – Picnic On The Prairie dinner event with speaker Doug Tallamy, author of Bringing Nature Home: How You Can Sustain Wildlife With Native Plants. Purchase tickets here.

Jun – Aug – Helen Rohner Children’s Fishing Park – Tuesday fishing classes and Friday nature classes.

Jul 9 – Aug 6 – Yoga In The Yard at GLC Mill House.

Please join Suzette Rowe as she leads you through a gentle vinyasa yoga practice. This 8 am class will take you though a 1 hour restorative yoga practice with focus on breath as you flow from pose to pose. The perfect way to welcome your day. Namaste 🙏

Aug 6 | Fri – RAPTOR SHOW at WHITE RIVER COUNTY PARK – Join us on Friday, August 6, 11 am,  at White River County park for the environmental education event hosted by the Conservancy with the Friends of White River County Park. Diane Moller, founder of Hoo’s Woods, will provide a 45-minute presentation on various birds of prey, including owls and a bald eagle. See four rehabilitated birds up close! Hope you will join us on the 6th to see these spectacular birds and learn how we can help protect them.

Aug 14 | Sat – Join us on Saturday, August 14th for our family-friendly butterfly event! We will be tagging monarchs before they start their journey thousands of miles south towards Mexico. You won’t want to miss this fun and educational event!

Aug 26 | Thu – Exhibition and reception for winners of the “Small Nature” photo contest at Green Grocer
