Hermansen Woods

What You Can Find Here

Mixed Hardwood Forest

Two intermittent streams run through the property, which eventually feed into Lake Como.  There are also two small bog/wetland areas within the property.  The site is home to a variety of northern hardwoods, including sugar maple, elm, black walnut, basswood and red oak.  This diversity in trees attracts a variety of wildlife including fox and owl, deer, squirrel and turkey.

While our walking the trail, watch for the storyboards along the way that were installed by the Eagle scouts with the help of a Lake Geneva Garden Club grant.

History

This beautiful 15-acre woodland off the shores of Lake Como was donated to the Conservancy by Al Hermansen in 2000.  It has hiking trails throughout the property and has undergone extensive restoration to restore the native woodland habitat.
