The Hansen Preserve is a scenic 77- acre property along Sugar Creek in the Town of Lafayette.   The main trail follows the creek for approximately one half mile to a rare oak opening.  It contains a variety of landscapes, including shrub car, sedge meadow and an oak savanna.

The creek meanders through the property on both sides (see map).   The property was purchased by the Geneva Lake Conservancy with funds from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Knowles Nelson Stewardship program, Ducks Unlimited and private donors in 2017.

DIRECTIONS:   Take Highway 12 to County Highway ES north of Elkhorn at the intersection of Abell’s Corner.   Proceed east on ES to the second bridge where you will see the preserve sign on the south side of the Highway.
